BMW

After calling for several weeks to try and schedule a plant tour of BMW that was not to happen.  Seems no English tours were available when we had time to spend.  They did book us a museum tour.   The tour time was at 12 noon.  I never received an confirmation and didn’t verify the information but Fan and I have schedule day at the museum. It also has a new car showroom attached in a different building.

Stopping at the train station on the way for breakfast we were off. Munich has a wide network of trains, buses and trolleys   So all sorted out we got to the station where we have to make a connection.  With the stations you have to exist and find a new platform either higher or lower. We get out of the station after climbing out prerequisite 3 flights of stairs to find nothing. Look around and there on the other side of the platform we just exited from was the connecting train. It was just crazy.

So we get to the museum about an hour early. Have our train station breakfast and head into the museum for our tour. The cashier looks at us like we are crazy.  I have no confirmation number and there are no tours in English that day.  We down load the app and away we go. The tour would have been 1 hour. We were there until after 3:30.  Guess we didn’t need the tour after all.  Of course Dan is reading all the cards or listening to the audio tapes when available. After the trip to the sales showroom it makes one think.  Mercedes’ also has some type of facility here also although I didn’t find any tour information in my sources

The trip back was uneventful as we knew where to find the connecting train. We head back as Dan decided we (aka he) needed to do laundry. The upside I found a laundromat just up from the hotel. If we brought it in early they would have done it for us. The upside Of the laundromat was there was an attendant to help us and make sure the machine was working correctly.  She was invaluable.  She wanted to use her English so we spoke with here for the 1.5 hours to get it done, learned about her girls, grandchildren, and the death of her husband 3 years ago and her immigration from Serbia 9 years ago leaving her daughters there. Dan had $10 euro which wasn’t near enough of a tip. She was overwhelmed. We tried to convince her of all the good she was doing helping the tourists.  Around the corner was the grocery store. We now have something for breakfast and wine for night. Munich seems expensive a glass of red wine in the bar is $12-$16.  Food is high also at least at the hotel. We go to see castles tomorrow on a tour. We are in Munich for 5 days.
