More Vienna

We spent most of the day on the hop on hop off bus then did some sightseeing on foot. This included a stop at Hotel Sacher( home to the original Sacher torte). Figured we had the Singapore Sling in Singapore needed to try the Sachretorte. Much less expensive that is for sure than the slings were.   Off to the Cathedral. St Stephen’s and the a tour of the opera house.  Only 3 of the original rooms existed after WWII. It was rebuilt with private funds.

We finished the day early for us by having dinner at a local brewery restaurant. Needed to have some Austrian food.  This is from a recommendation from a traveler we met in Prague at a restaurant who had lived in Vienna for a while.  Food was great.  We really enjoyed the potato salad. It was a cold salad with the taste of vinegar. So I suggested Dan try some beer. Here we are at a brewery. He declined. I asked him why. Seems he said needs to be in the mood??  So he bypassed the Czech beer and now the Austrian beer.   I guess I am lucky he went on the brewery tour and drank the after tour samples.

We leave for Salzburg in the AM. Thought we might do another walking tour but opted for a slow lazy start to the day and got to the train station early. Easier to find the platform and escalator up the level to the train than Prague but again they don’t list the platform until 20 minutes before the train will leave. We should get to Salzburg by 4pm
