One of our days here we did an all day tour up the Romantic Road to Rothenburg Ob Der Tauber. The romantic road sounds exotic don’t you think. Not really. The area is very scenic rolling hills of green, houses farms and churches. I guess it is much better than the autobahn with 3 lanes of traffic. We stopped at a medieval castle from the 11th - 12th century that was still intact. Harburg is still used as a family home as well as hotel. A short 40 minute tour and bathroom stop. We then traveled onto Rothenburg which is a quaint town with red roofs and half timbered houses that was spared much of the devastation of WWII bombing. The city wall is still intact. We had a group lunch and about an hour to walk about the town. The town is known for its Christmas shops as well as nutcrackers and wood carvings. We will return here and spend the night and hopefully get a better appreciation of the town. We headed to Nuremberg after our day of parks in Munich
Isn't it interesting how Europe does beauty better than we do sprawl?
