Well, the weather gods caught up with us. Today the rain started about 12:40 and has been constant most of the day. Not a hard rain just the type that gets you wet because of the wind. We did walk the old town before it started. The town is built around the lake and has a number of wooden covered bridges still in existence since the first half of the 14th century the water tower was built around 1300 and is a photographic landmark for Lucerne.
Lucerne has great shopping and as everyone has said Switzerland is expensive. We were able to see many of the painted facades that are similar to Oberammergau it is really a way to individualize some of the houses or shops
So after our morning walk we checked out the local grocery store for snacks and proceeded to spend the rest of the afternoon just decompressing. It would have been a great day to do laundry. Looking ahead on apple weather it looks like it will rain our entire time in Switzerland which is a real bummer because I had hoped to be able to do a few walks “downhill” in the alps. Hopefully the weather will clear a little and we will be able to take the gondola up to one of the lower peaks.
We really can’t complain this is the first real rain we have had in 6 weeks. Tomorrow we will do a train ride and go to a wood carving museum. Enjoy the photos of Lucerne.
