Prague in a Day?

   The original post was deleted as we were on the train and while trying to do an edit the internet was lost and so was the post. I will recreate some  

Prague was the one city I had no plans for and therefore no expectations. It is a city of contrasts as we found out on our way to the train station (poor planning). 

Most people see the old town area and the go across the bridge to see the Prague Palace. Our day started with a walk toward the Opera House square which was actually the opposite way from old town. After doubling back and exploring the street market and shops. Prague is known for glass and crystal.   Dan was up for a do nothing type of day and that is basically what we did. 

The most exciting part of the day was our trip to the ATM and then with a $500 Czech Korona $25 USD. (The ATM only dispensed a $500 bill). We still had to find a cafe to sit and have coffee or wine in order to find a WC. The joy of travel. The weather is amazing almost 80 degrees and we have seen so many people with shorts on and summer sleeveless tops  this is the first city on the trip we have seen shorts and sandals  Seems like tourist season is starting.

We did go on a river cruise along the Vltava River so got a look at the Palace (up hill both ways). So basically an easy day enjoying some of the 100 spires that Prague is known for stopping early for dinner and home to pack  on our way to the boat dock we walked the Rodeo Drive of Prague.  Yes you think of the name of the store it was packed in this 2 block area  One store was so exclusive they wouldn’t let you in to see the merchandise unless you had an appointment.  Since not one mask was seen in all of Prague I don’t think it was due to Covid restrictions  

Advice for Prague. Take the hop on hop off, go to the Palace and do the laundry. Prague is small enough to get that all done otherwise you will be trying to find the laundromat on Friday night in Vienna after 4 hours on the train. 

Yes we will go back   We do need to plan and the Palace is a must and Dan never did try the Czech beer which is apparently their biggest and best known  product .
