So today we went to explore Interlaken. It was about a 90 minute train ride. We stopped in the town of Brienz betfore going the extra time to Interlaken
The trip was amazing Switzerland is the prettiest country we have seen at least the area from Lucerne west. Lots of lakes and the greenest green. I think it was prettier than Ireland with its shades of green
We stopped because this town was known for its woodcarving and there was a tiny museum. It was amazing what the carvers are able to imagine and produce. It is a skill I don’t have seeing a 3D image out of a block of wood. We had perfect weather on the train and then it started to cloud up and was threatening by the time we got to Interlaken.
Interlaken is considered the gateway to the alps and there are many opportunities to use funicular or cable cars to go up into the mountains. By the time we walked 15 minutes it was beginning to rain and continued to worsen in the next hour. It was a steady light rain that would get heavy at times. Definitely umbrellas and jackets
When we stopped for lunch we could see the hang gliders landing in the park across the street even in the rain. Interlaken is definitely a tourist town with shops and hotels. It was a great afternoon since we were able to travel and see a new part of Switzerland. My photos did not do it justice
