Oslo

 The ship will spend an overnight here. This was an add on port due to the war’s itinerary changes. Unfortunately for us we have plans to spend 2 days there just before we head home as we are flying out of Oslo. 

The other down side of this port is Dan has reached travel fatigue. He picked up a novel out of the ships library and thinks it will be fine to have a veg day.  So we did go on a ships excursion that was great as it included the sculpture garden of Gustav Vigeland. This garden was amazing. They are all human forms and show life, and seemingly relationships. Statues are all naked because clothing would date the piece and this way the piece lives forever. We also stopped at the ski jump originally from the 1962 Olympics and again in 1992. 

The weather today was in the mid 70’s and full sun. Today Oslo is celebrating the longest day of the year. They will only have dark skies for 3 hours tonight. They will light bon fires all over the area.  Oslo is made up of several islands with ferry service from a central area that is basically a restaurant row. There must be 15 or 20 restaurants lined up all with outside tables.

So we walked over to the Nobel Peace Prize museum, seems according to Alfred Nobel’s will the peace Prize is given out in Oslo and the other awards in Stockholm and then proceeded to find some ice cream and sit in the sun watching people.  Dan got his “veg” day. Afterall it is vacation.
