The Never Ending Day

Well it seems like our travel day was a never ending day. We were on a puddle jumper from London to Amsterdam. Thinking back our original tickets were SD to Philli then onto Amsterdam. Not sure what happened to those plans. That we now have a stop and lay over in London.we had a stop in London.  Oh well, it’s about the travel.  This little puddle jumper had 12 seats set aside for first class. They were actually coach seats or smaller with the center seat blocked out, on this 45 minute flight they served “tea”. Dan choice this I stuck with water. I was still stuffed from meals the day before. So they served food and picked up the trays in about 30 minutes amazing.

Arrival in Netherlands without issue. What was amazing was there were still masks required on the plane and in the airport although no one said anything to those not wearing one.  When you leave the airport only a few masks seen.  We sail through customs. No one was interested in the forms we filled out before leaving home. The customs guy says “we don’t need those anymore”.  I wish some would tell Google,

So with things going so smoothly what could go wrong. This trip we decided to use an Uber from the train station to the hotel. Figured would save a little money over a taxi.  How wrong we were.  I guess we should have practiced before we left. Turns out we were on the wrong end of the train station  and get charged a cancellation charge. After walking to the other side of the train station  we called a  “second” time and he got stuck in traffic and cancelled our request. . Third time the charm, we get to the hotel and the room isn’t ready  it is 6 o’clock,  okay  a free drink in the bar  check back at 7:30   Still not ready…. Okay time for a walk    Lots of cheese shops..all closed..  restaurants in this area which is near the central station are busy and there are some interesting little side streets  (will post photo)

Back to the hotel  it is now a little after 9pm   The room is finally ready.  so much for an early night and planning on unpacking and ready for bed by 7pm   Well it was 10pm   We had been up for 31 hours  not sleeping more than 2-3 on the plane  hope to catch up by sleeping in in the AM (fingers crossed)
