A photo is worth a thousand words. On our day in Frankfort, Dan was done with museums, and churches was okay with a botanical garden but not overly excited.
I kept looking at the timing to see two castles in one day. Suggested we see the further castle so as to eliminate 3-4 train/ferry rides etc. he thought a great idea
We headed to Marksburg. This is in a small town of Braubach. So a train to Koblenz from Frankfurt then a train from. Koblenz to Braubach. According to my tour book it is about a 25 minute uphill walk, taxis are limited and non existent or there is a shuttle bus
Get off the train and walk to the visitor center. It is closed because it is Saturday. Next walk into the center of town. This is an ice cream store. I ask about a bus to the castle. The young girl asks the owner and he says there is no bus. The only way to the castle is to walk. Ever resourceful. I check Uber. No cars available. We Google taxi in Braubach, call the number. He doesn’t have a car!! Things are looking grim. The choice is to walk or go back to Frankfurt. If there is no transportation on Saturday then Sunday will be worse
We walked. Yes it wasn’t the most fun and the worse part was the area from the parking area to to ticket counter. It was a crazy day. I somehow pulled a back muscle. Couldn’t wait until we got back to take the ibuprofen. We wouldn’t have been able to do 2 castles in one day good thing we opted for today
