Last Port of Call

 Hard to believe the cruise is over.  Bergen is our last port. This is the home of Viking Cruise Line. We must have a weather karma with us as Bergen rains 240 to 300 days a year. It is beautiful warm and sunny. We actually have a busy day today but it doesn’t start until 11am with a bus tour of the city and then in the afternoon there is a gold and silver tour

Bergen is a mix of architecture and our exploring was mostly done in the old part of town. Older wood homes that were home to the German merchants during the Hanseatic League time lots of cobble streets and a mix of other things. We did take the funicular to see the view which is helpful in understanding just how big a city Bergen really is. Our ship is here  overnight  which is good for us since we have to meet a baggage porter at 6:15 on the other side of the security gate. Also after talking to passengers several people have to leave at 3 am to catch a 6 am plane. On top of that apparently SAS has a pilot strike going on or threatening so there could be cancellations.

We plan to do Norway in a nutshell which is a tour across Norway from Bergen to Oslo.  We will be retracing a lot of ground we already have seen since the cruise itinerary changed we were unable to alter are flights and plans so we have lots more time to explore. 

Already dreading figuring out meals, transportation and where we are staying. The cruise makes  everything so easy.

The gold and silver factory was fun and educational.  Dan loved it.  We were taken within the factory to see processes.  A discount on shopping and they have bigger discounts on repurposed jewelry. A nice experience to end our tour with. Had dinner with a couple from Virginia and one from the LA area. The upside they had an extra bottle of sparkling wine that we were gifted. Life doesn’t get better.
