Zermatt

Headed to the mountains.  Today we have a 3 hour trip to the mountains.  Left a bit early for us since the museums were closed due to “another” bank holiday and Monday to boot. Zermatt lies in the closest town to the Matterhorn. When we arrived after speaking with the desk attendant seems the view from the cog railway that is the viewing platform is fairly good and a “small” storm is due tomorrow when we had planned to go up

The railway is a 50 min cog railway that sits at 10000 feet. You can see the mountain from town but not the surrounding glaciers etc. so  checked into the room and got out coats etc off to catch the train

The first photos I posted were from the top.  As you can see there is quite a cloud covering.  We are thankful that we got a partial view in light of more cloud and rain tomorrow.  When we got off the mountain we took a walk to find the laundry lady. Seem there is no self serve in zermatt.  After wandering around we locate the shop. Closed.  Seems we are early in the season so there are many restaurants and services that are just closed.

Off to the grocery store which is open, found a bottle of wine and snacks and came back to the room to enjoy the balcony we have. It only overlooks a local construction project and Dan seems to be enjoying watching the locals. That is one thing we have noticed is the abundance of new construction projects hotels etc.  It is spring.
