Zurich

We arrived in Zurich without much fanfare. The scenery was spectacular in this portion of Switzerland green with houses sprinkled throughout.  The weather was great when we got to Zurich even train was forecast we had nothing more than a few drops.  Got some laundry done we plan to do the rest when we get on the ship on Tuesday.  One big hurdle left to do and that is Covid test before get on the ship.  I spent probably 2-3 nights researching where to get this done. What type of test.  Called Viking twice regarding what would be acceptable. I have scheduled an online test for Monday night if they can’t do it or it is not acceptable we can test Tuesday morning

The best news we heard tonight is that the US dropped testing before flight home. This saves aggravation and money.   As far as Europe and Covid the only mandates we have had is mask wearing in Germany on a train.  Once you are off the train the masks all come off.  There seems to be lots more alcohol gel dispensers around.

We have 2 days in Zurich and one I am going to take and do a field trip to Ravensburg.  This town although close by miles will take 3 hours by train.  There is a museum that talks about the company.  This is the company that makes games and puzzles   It was a fun afternoon although a little stressful on the way back to Zurich

To make the long story short. We had 2 options for travel. We decided to try for the sooner departure since there would be less train changes but we had to walk the .6 mi to the station from the museum. We arrived with 2 min to spare making the hike in less than 10 min the train was late by 15 min.  This is where it gets a little challenging. Dan didn’t confirm the train and walked ahead of me and boarded the train. When I caught up with him I told him my thoughts that it was the wrong train.  Indeed it was. The upside is the train we were supposed to be on also stopped at this station we just had to find the correct platform. No problem and the train pulled in within minutes but then proceeded to be delayed for another 20. The good news is we had a long time before our next connection and made that without difficulty. That train was then delayed. We opted to not make another connection and just go to the main station

This all sounds like craziness but we have been very happy with traveling by train.  No problems to speak of except it will take longer than if you drove, but the stress of no car far outweighs the time

Since we spent the day going to Ravensburg tomorrow we will see Zurich and then take a plane to Stockholm.  It is really hard to believe the trip is almost over
