Berlin

 When I was putting together this trip. Granted it was at the last minute I was unsure of how many days we would need for Berlin. So today we only have some museums to see and/or some churches 

The day started out okay, mimosas for breakfast then kind of fell apart. We head off to the German History Museum. On our way we see more police blocking off a main intersection and traffic backed up for miles.  Not thinking much of this we head on.  Get to the museum to find that is relocated to the building behind as the current building is being repaired. Many of Berlins buildings are being repaired.  This is really hard to understand since our information from several sources over the past few days was that the Allies bombed the heck out of the city. Perhaps this was one building that had very little damage. So off we go, unfortunately the museum is really closed and there are only 3 separate special exhibits none of which peak our interest.  So we walk about 2 blocks to reassess the day

Sitting on the park bench; we have more police lights, sirens and German language and chanting over a loud speaker.  I am sure our trip insurance won’t cover anything if we are involved in some sort of demonstration  so thanks to Google we determine this is some sort of March that goes along a major street in the center of Berlin for the “worker’s social party”  since are German is really non existent (in spite of Dan’s 3 years in high school) we are not sure what is their issue,   The police closed off a 4 lane road for probably about 4 miles for this group and we think they continued their rally into the afternoon at a local park  

Back to our day, no other “open” museums catch our eye and many of the churches are being reconstructed so we head off to one of the squares as there is a chocolate shop that is high end to be checked out  this area of town is known for its chocolate shops there were even ones we first saw in Brussels present

The shop lived up to its hype  it was 3 floors of amazing.  We sampled the tearoom because we know it’s important to stop at a cafe to find a free bathroom   Even the bathroom was amazing. On the second floor was a station to make your own chocolate bar with flavors you like  unfortunately today it was not available.  Needless to say we were able to find something that met with our expectations.

We had a quiet afternoon and since we spent so much time in the chocolate shop and one of the museums Dan wanted to see was closed we called it a day.   We will see the museum in the morning.
